Are Edgerrin James and Derwin James related?

Edgerrin Tyree James, born August 1, 1978, is a former American professional football running back who played eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL).

James began his career as a Miami Hurricanes college football player. Fourth overall in the 1999 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected him.

He’s also had stints with the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. James was named to four Pro Bowls and four All-Pro teams after being named the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1999.

Edgerrin has the most rushing yards, attempts, and touchdowns in Colts history. He is a member of the 10,000-yard club and ranks 13th all-time in rushing yards.

In the 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class, James was chosen as a member.

James now lives in Miami, Florida. He has six children, including Eden, a Howard running back, and Edgerrin Jr., a four-star basketball recruit in the class of 2023. Andia Wilson, James’ long-term girlfriend and the mother of four of his children, died of leukemia on April 14, 2009, at the age of 30.
