On February 11, 1994, James Dansby Swanson was born. He is a professional baseball shortstop for the Major League Baseball Atlanta Braves. (MLB).

Swanson became the first MLB player with the name “Dansby” anywhere in it after Justin and Leonidas Dansby, who both played in Minor League Baseball but never made it to the major leagues.

Swanson is his first name, and his mother’s maiden name is James Dansby. He is the youngest of three children, and both of his older siblings played collegiate sports: Chase played baseball for the Mercer Bears, while Lindsey played softball at Georgia College.

He participated in two sports at Marietta High School, where his basketball prowess earned him the nickname “Three-point Swanson.”

Swanson was chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft out of high school, but he opted not to sign, instead playing college baseball with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Mallory Pugh, a member of the Chicago Red Stars and the US women’s national soccer team, accepted Swanson’s marriage proposal in December 2021.

The two were acquainted by Swanson’s former teammate Jace Peterson and Pugh’s brother-in-law, and they began dating in 2017.
