Kevin A. Plank is the founder, CEO, and chairman of the famous sportswear, footwear, and accessories brand ‘Under Armour’. Plank is an American Billionaire and Philanthropist.

Kevin was born on August 12, 1972, in Kensington, Maryland. His birth name is Kevin A. Plank and holds American nationality. He is now 51 years old. He grew up playing youth football with the Maplewood Sports Association.

Plank was born to father William Plank and mother Jayne Harper Plank. He has four other siblings, among them, Kevin is the youngest. His brothers are Bill Plank, Scott Plank, Stuart Plank, and  Collin Harper Plank.

His father was a prominent Maryland land developer. And his mother is a former mayor of Kensington. About his brother’s information, it has not been made public.

Before Plank introduced us to Under Armour he started his business at the University. He started Cupid’s Valentine which earned him $3000 and he used it as seed money for Under Armour.

He got the idea of Under Armour while playing for  Maryland Terrapins. His cotton T-shirts were unable to keep him dry from his sweat, so, he started searching for a material that would wick the sweat from his body. after his graduation, he used his cash and a loan from  ‘Small Business Administration’ to launch his business.

He first began the business from his grandmother’s basement in Washington D.C. Once his friends started playing professional football, he sent them the shirts, asking him to pass them out in the locker rooms. Under Armour’s first shirt was the #0037, which he sold from his car.

By the end of  1996, Plank sold 500 Under Armour HeatGear shirts, generating $17,000 for the company, which resulted in $1 million in direct sales, and teams started to purchase the clothing. Which made $1 million in direct sales and other teams started purchasing his clothing.

In 2010, Under Armour’s revenue reached 1 billion. In 2015, Under Armour bought two big fitness apps,’ Endomondo’ and “MyFitness Pal’ for  $475 million. He wanted to build global digital health and challenge big companies like Google, Apple, and Fitbit. In 2016 the company launched a new non-performance men’s and womenswear line.

Today, Kevin employs over 11,000 people with Under Armour. Its estimated net worth is $1.9 billion, according to Forbes in 2019.
