Ric Ocasek formed The Cars in 1976, with Elliot Easton, Benjamin Orr, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson. The band’s debut album, The Cars, was released in 1978 and was a commercial success, with hit singles such as “Just What I Needed” and “My Best Friend’s Girl.” The Cars went on to release several more albums, including Candy-O (1979), Panorama (1980), Shake It Up (1981), and Heartbeat City (1984), which featured the hit singles “You Might Think” and “Drive.” Ric was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cars in 2018.
